My second piece of Steampunk jewelry. This goes with my necklace.

This is what I call a Bringlet. I made this with assorted Watch and Pocketwatch pieces, crazy glue and nail glue (Nail glue is surprisingly strong!) as well as the assorted tools needed to link the chains and links and such. =)

There are a few inherent dangers with wearing this bringlet, but I've gotten used to most of them. First and foremost - it catches on absolutely -everything-. Second, is the big gear on the wrist part is very pointy, and tends to bite unsuspecting boyfriends trying to cuddle.

Creating the Bringlet took a while, mostly figuring out logistics (where to connect what, so that it maximized the idea I was going for). The middle piece was rotated 180 degrees the first version of this, but having the chains start so close together meant that they refused to go around my knuckle at all, so I switched it up. And initially, there was only one chain around the finger, but that caused the charm on the finger to stand up! So I had to add a piece to it so I could add a second chain.
And then once I figured that out, I had to slowly take links off of the middle pieces, so that it wouldn't hinder me when my hand was in a fist, but wasn't too loose when my had wasn't in a fist.

Then after all that... I had to figure out how to put it on without help! After a great deal of fighting with it one handed trying to twist the clasp into itself, I figured out how to succeed - using my teeth! Using my teeth, I can now do up my bringlet faster then someone can do it up for me. It's hardly graceful, but it's good, since I have to put it on every morning before I go out... I can't sleep with all the poky bits lest I wake up with puncture wounds. =)

Anyways, that's all my rambling. Constructive critism is welcome =)

very cool, next time use a magnetic clasp as it will be less of a fight to put on.

Let your imagination guide your hand and nothing shall stand in your way.

-I love a messy work bench, it means things are being made.-

Where did you get the larger metal plates, the ones the chains are linked to? It's a beautiful piece of jewelry and I envy you for it.
:icongoagleon:
The larger metal plates are from old antique pocketwatches - all of the gears and such were originally attached to it.

Thanks for the comment and the fave. =)

This is really cool! :O Very creative design.

However did you acquire antique watches? I've been thinking of making my own steampunk stuff, but I'm not sure where to get materials.

eBay. =) I found all of one by scouring my local shops, and in the end it was eBay that did the trick. Good luck!
